Anabela Silva Elected Chair of APRH’s Specialised Committee

CITAB Researcher Elected Chair of APRH’s Specialised Committee on Water, Agriculture, and Forestry

In April 2025, CITAB researcher Anabela Silva was elected chair of the Specialised Committee on Water, Agriculture, and Forestry (CEAAF) of the Portuguese Water Resources Association (APRH).

The CEAAF promotes the advancement, exchange, and transfer of knowledge related to the use of water resources in the agricultural and forestry sectors, contributing to a more rational, efficient, and sustainable management of these resources.

As part of her duties as chair of the Commission, Anabela Silva is involved in organising the event “Water as a Structuring Element of the Territory: The Challenge of the Sado River Basin,” which will take place on October 28 in Alcácer do Sal.

The initiative, which has already been announced, will promote reflection and debate on the current and future challenges facing the Sado River Basin. The tentative program includes topics such as water as a driver of regional development, the impact of climate change on the Sado River Basin, risk management and civil protection, as well as a roundtable discussion dedicated to the future of the river basin.

The event thus aims to provide a forum for sharing and discussing the role of water in the region and the challenges associated with its management.
