CITAB was represented at Encontros'26, which began on 1 July in Celorico de Basto, through the participation of three researchers in different sessions dedicated to science, sustainability, and communication.
Professor Carlos Afonso Teixeira addressed the technical, economic, and environmental sustainability of waste management, placing the topic within the context of the circular economy and climate action.
Researcher Teresa Freitas presented the talk "Climate and Applied Climatology", where she explained the concepts of weather and climate, the evolution of climate change, and its impacts on society and nature. The session also included the presentation of scientific studies carried out at CITAB's Applied Climatology Laboratory, with a particular focus on research related to chestnut and almond trees.
Professor João Carrola, led a session on Science Communication, highlighting the importance of communicating scientific knowledge and strengthening the connection between research and society.
