CITAB took part in the participatory workshop “Feeding Portugal”!

The initiative brought together six research centres for the first time (including CITAB and Inov4agro), fostering joint reflection on the scientific priorities and actions needed to address the sector’s challenges.

CITAB helped organise the initiative alongside MED, CIMO, GreenUPorto, LEAF and GREEN-IT, contributing to the definition of national research and innovation priorities in these areas. 

The event brought together more than 150 participants (in person) and was followed online by more than 50. Academics and researchers, students, producers and representatives from companies, associations and public administration bodies took part in this consultation with the aim of further developing a strategic proposal for agri-food and agroforestry research and innovation in our country.

Throughout the workshop, participants joined transdisciplinary working groups to discuss the main challenges and needs of these sectors. Key topics included bridging the gap between research and the productive sector, knowledge and technology transfer, investment in science and innovation, and strengthening collaboration among academia, businesses, and the government.

The contributions resulting from the workshop will support the further development of the proposal “Feeding Portugal: Science and Innovation for National Security, Sovereignty and Competitiveness”, to be submitted to AI² – the Agency for Research and Innovation.
