My scientific activity focuses on the identification, extraction, and valorisation of bioactive compounds from natural resources, with particular emphasis on agro-industrial by-products and their application in food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical sectors. I have worked extensively on the chemical characterisation of phytochemicals, including phenolic compounds, and the evaluation of their biological properties, such as antioxidant, antimicrobial, and anti-ageing activities. My research integrates advanced analytical techniques and functional assays to support the development of innovative and sustainable products.
My interests also include the circular economy and the sustainable management of resources, particularly the transformation of winery and agri-food residues into high-value ingredients. In parallel, I have explored the application of these compounds in nutraceuticals, functional foods, and dermocosmetic formulations, contributing to the development of solutions that bridge science, industry, and health, while promoting environmental sustainability and technological innovation.
